ESD Polyester Tape Description:
ESD Polyester Tape is a specialized pressure-sensitive adhesive tape designed for use in Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) protected areas (EPAs). Its primary function is to provide a safe, static-dissipative surface for masking, holding, splicing, and labeling applications where static electricity could damage sensitive electronic components.Unlike standard polyester tapes (which are excellent insulators and can generate and hold high static charges), ESD Polyester Tape is engineered to safely dissipate static charges to ground, preventing sudden discharges (ESD events).
Static-Dissipative Surface: The core feature. The tape’s surface has a controlled electrical resistance, typically in the range of 10^6 to 10^9 ohms/sq. This allows charges to flow slowly and safely to ground, rather than building up or discharging instantly.
Durable Polyester (PET) Film Backing: Provides excellent:
Tensile Strength: High resistance to breaking under tension.
Dimensional Stability: Does not stretch, shrink, or warp easily with temperature or humidity changes.
Tear Resistance: Good durability against tearing.
Chemical & Solvent Resistance: Withstands exposure to many chemicals and solvents.
Temperature Resistance: Can typically withstand temperatures from -40°C to 150°C (-40°F to 302°F), making it suitable for soldering and other high-temp processes.
ESD-Safe Adhesive: The adhesive itself is also formulated to be static-dissipative, ensuring the entire tape structure is ESD-safe, not just the backing.
Clean Adhesion & Removal: Leaves little to no adhesive residue upon removal, which is critical for protecting sensitive surfaces and components from contamination.
Storage:
1. Store under normal conditions of 10-30℃ and 40-70% R.H, out of direct sunlight.
2. Shelf life: 12 months from the date of manufacture when stored in initial packing.
Precaution Reminder:
1. Surface should be clean, dry, free of dust, oil or other contaminants.
2. Proper pressure required by roller, hand or press when applying.
3. Avoid repeat sticking to prevent adhesion decrease.
