Mylar Tape Description

Mylar tape is a pressure-sensitive tape that uses a thin, incredibly strong polyester film as its backing material. It is typically coated with a strong acrylic or silicone adhesive.Its most distinctive features are its high tensile strength, temperature resistance, and excellent moisture and chemical barrier properties.

Key Characteristics & Properties

High Tensile Strength: Mylar film is very difficult to tear by hand. The tape is extremely strong for its weight and thickness, making it excellent for holding, reinforcing, and bundling heavy or sharp-edged items.

Temperature Resistance: It performs well in both high and low-temperature environments. It typically has a service temperature range from -70°F to 250°F (-57°C to 121°C) and can withstand even higher short-term peaks. This makes it suitable for applications involving heating, cooling, or electronics.

Dimensional Stability: It does not stretch, shrink, or warp significantly under changes in temperature or humidity. This is crucial for precision applications like masking in PCB (printed circuit board) manufacturing.

Chemical Resistance: It resists many oils, solvents, and chemicals, which prevents degradation of the tape backing.
